What home workout equipment do I need? Is there a Minimum amount?

INTRODUCTION

What equipment do you need to work out from home? Is there a minimum requirement? anything we would recommend? Well, yes and no really, the answer to the question of What home workout equipment do I need can get a little complicated. We thought we would try to break the question What home workout equipment do I need down into a few sections.

Hopefully, this helps everyone understand why we say the answer is both he’s and no. So I think it would be best if we go over if we think there is a minimum amount of home workout equipment you need to have an effective workout and hopefully answer the question What home workout equipment do I need?

IS THERE A MINIMUM?

Straight out of the gate, I would say no! There is not a minimum amount of equipment you need. You can make a lot of progress and have some amazing workouts with just your body weight. If you check out our application and look at the bodyweight workouts, you will see that there are loads of workouts you can do with your body weight. You can get very creative and come up with some amazing workouts.

I would say there is a limit to what you can do with your body weight. For example, you can burn calories, have some high-intensity workouts and lose body fat. However, gaining a serious amount of muscle and put on size will be tricky or take a lot of time. The issue with bodyweight is that you can’t progress easily, Meaning you can’t add weight. If we take the Press Up. A great exercise for building your chest, shoulders, arms and back. However, you can’t add weight (if you have no other equipment available), so the only way to progress is to do more sets or more reps.

One way to look at it is that Prisons restrict their inmate on equipment and a lot of them only have bodyweight to work with. They all get into good shape and stay fit. This goes to show what you can do with only body weight and time.

WHAT WOULD WE RECOMMEND?

If you are asking the question What home workout equipment do I need? I would say none, as we have discussed above, however, I would recommend that you invest in a pair of dumbbells or a barbell with a few plates. This will allow you to expand your exercises and add higher resistance to your workout. Plus you can still incorporate bodyweight workouts with equipment and mix it up.

If you can’t get your hands on any of the above, We highly recommend you invest in a kettlebell. The exercises you can do with a kettlebell is amazing and you can get some amazing workouts with them. They are always for sale on websites like eBay and Facebook marketplace.

Of course, everyone’s dream is to have a full home gym. However, that is only not practical, but also very expensive. Not everyone wants to full home gym because they don’t intend to work out from home full time. Some people just want a few bits and bobs for a few workouts at home during the week. If you can’t afford any equipment, or have no space at all to store or use it, don’t be scared to do bodyweight, You can still get amazing results using bodyweight workouts.

NO NEED TO RUSH

The most important thing to remember is there isn’t any need to rush, you will be surprised at what you can do with just a pair of dumbbells or even your body weight. So don’t spend all your money to try to not out a full home gym. If you are after a home gym then the best way is to slowly build it up. Start minimal and build up.

You can keep an eye on websites like Amazon, eBay and Facebook marketplace to see if people are selling anything. However, the most important thing is to get started with what you got. As I mentioned earlier, I changed my workout style while working out from home, to more CrossFit and functional. You might have to do the same.

Work with what you got, try to get creative and come up with a way to work out using the equipment that you have! You can also take the DIY approach if needed! Full bags up with things to add weight. Loads of ways to increase resistance. If you can’t find more weight you can either do more reps, more sets or even slow the movement right down. Loads of ways to get creative!

CONCLUSION

So, what home workout equipment do I need? The answer is anything or nothing! You can do bodyweight, you can buy equipment or you can even DIY, and create some things to help. Either way, it is more about how you progress and increase the volume over time. Also, you have to make sure your diet is in check, this will allow you to make the most progress.
