Why you should diary your day – Keeping a Daily Journal!

INTRODUCTION

Why should you keep a diary? Well, why should you keep a diary or a daily journal? There are many reasons that I have discovered since keeping a daily journal. So in this article, we are going to go over some of the biggest reasons we think you should keep a daily journal and all the benefits that it has.

Also, when we say daily journal, this isn’t like a workout log or exercise tracker. This is a diary about how your day went, how you are feeling. The ups and downs and any goals you hit. There are so many reasons I think people should be doing this. So let us get into some of the biggest ones.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY “DIARY YOUR DAY”?

What exactly do we mean when we say “diary your day”? Well, it is what you see in films and TV shows where they keep a journal and write in it every night and don’t let anyone see it. We aren’t on about being as secret as that but it is the same as you would write all about your day and what happened, how you feel and anything else you want to write down.

You can write whatever you want in the diary, however, there are a few things that you would want to write down as a kind of standard. I think it is wise to div deep into what to keep in your diary or what we suggest.

WHY WOULD YOU KEEP A DIARY?

Keeping a diary is a great way to track various things. Mostly your mood and performance. The first example we will go through is gym progression. If you are writing down your day, Your food and what you got up, then one session you find a bit rubbish or you felt off, you can check your diary and see what you have done differently that day that might have affected your performance.

It is also a good way to “vent” and allow you to write down how you are feeling and what is on your mind. I am no expert, but I have found that most of the time I feel stressed or down it is because I am thinking a lot of things or have a lot on my mind. Keeping a diary allows you to get all your thoughts out and allows you to take a few minutes to think about each one. I find this great for clearing my head.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Well, Luckily for you the Sets & Reps Membership Area on the app has a daily planner, allowing you to write a title for your entry and then fill out all you want to write and then also allow you to enter a rating or a score for that day. This will allow you to quickly look at how good a day was and find out what might have made that day bad or good.

This feature comes with the Membership Area (along with so many other amazing features), and can help you express feelings and also allow you to work out what might be making your days bad or what might be making them amazing! If you want to give the feature a go, you can download our application here.

You can also diary as much or as little as you want, you can do it daily or weekly. Some people prefer to sum up a week rather than a day. This is fine as long as you are doing that routine consistently.

CONCLUSION

We have mentioned it several times, if you have never kept a daily journal or a diary then I would highly recommend it! It has so many benefits however, the main advantage I use it for is to clear my head and get all the thoughts and things on my mind out and I can write them down and process them! If you want to get started you can download our free app and use the Daily Journal feature!
